The 12-meter-tall God of Wealth rotating centerpiece at the Taoyuan Lantern Festival performs water dance and fireworks shows every night

As the Lantern Festival approaches, lantern displays across various cities and counties are kicking off one after another. The only "waterborne God of Wealth" centerpiece in Taiwan was officially lit up and inaugurated on the 8th at the Taoyuan Lantern Festival. The 12-meter-tall God of Wealth stands proudly on Longtan Pond, complemented by the surrounding pond and waterfront lantern displays, allowing visitors to enjoy a stunning spectacle of lights intertwining over water and land. Until the event concludes on the 16th, water dance performances will take place daily starting in the afternoon, followed by vibrant fireworks shows at 8 PM.

Organizers stated that this year’s Taoyuan Lantern Festival breaks the mold by not centering around the Chinese zodiac animal, but instead features the God of Wealth as the main attraction, wishing visitors a prosperous new year. In addition to the God of Wealth, another highlight of the lantern festival is the “Sparkling Pond Waterfront Lantern Display,” which offers laser light shows, water dance performances, and fireworks displays every day.

During the event period, the main light show takes place every evening from 7 to 9 PM on the hour, with an additional fireworks show during the 8 PM performance. Water dance performances will run from the opening day until the 23rd, from 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM daily, with one show per hour. Organizers have also added a special treat: limited-edition mini lanterns featuring the “Martial Saint Wealth God” will be handed out at the event information booth at 4 PM and 7 PM each day.

4 shuttle bus routes: Administrative Park Line, Qianlong Elementary School Line, Lingyun Gang Line, and Puxin Railway Station Line. Operating hours are 16:00–22:00 on weekdays and 15:00–20:30 on holidays. Alternatively, you can take the “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” Cihu Line and get off at Longtan Pond Station to reach the event venue.
