Emirates Launches Direct Flights from Taipei to Dubai

The first direct flight connecting Taiwan and the Middle East: The Taipei–Dubai route, operated directly by Emirates, officially commenced service on the 11th. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, said: “This new route not only significantly shortens the distance between the people of Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates, but also makes it much more convenient for Taiwanese travelers to transit through Dubai to reach destinations in the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and Europe.”
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications also expressed optimism about the new direct route. Deputy Minister Chen Chun-jing said: “The Taipei–Dubai direct flight will not only help promote Taiwan’s tourism industry, but also boost bilateral trade and development.” With cross-strait flights becoming increasingly frequent—this month seeing an increase to 828 flights—the Taipei–Dubai route will also enhance convenience for business travelers between the two sides traveling to the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and other regions.

Deputy Director-General of the Civil Aeronautics Administration Lee Wan-li also noted: “The proportion of Taiwanese people engaging in leisure travel with an interest in Chinese culture is steadily increasing, and Dubai has created many world-class attractions. This direct flight can bring greater tourism benefits.” Currently, Emirates’ ground services in Taiwan are supported by China Airlines, making it the first airline to join Taoyuan International Airport this year. With Dubai as its hub, Emirates currently operates to 141 global destinations. Following its inaugural flight to Taipei, the route to Boston will officially commence on March 10.
