Doliang Station, known as “Taiwan’s most beautiful train station,” boasts a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean backed by high mountains, along with its iconic long red railings — a breathtaking sight that has always delighted travelers. But recently, the once vibrant red railings were repainted green, prompting netizens to express their disappointment: “It totally ruins the view.”

A reporter contacted officials from the Taiwan Railways Administration’s Engineering Office, who explained that as Doliang Station has been out of service for many years, the original red iron railings had severely rusted and corroded. For safety reasons, the TRA installed additional fencing nearby, and the green paint was chosen to match the color of the new fence. Whether the railings will be repainted red in response to public opinion has not yet been decided.
