New H7N9 cases reported in mainland China; Jilin Province listed as yellow travel alert zone

The Mainland Affairs Council on February 24Jilin Provinceas a yellow travel alert zone. The Central Epidemic Command Center also confirmedHunan,Guangdong,AnhuiandJilintogether reported eight new confirmed H7N9 cases, showing that the risk and threat of the disease outbreak continue to exist.

Currently, H7N9 influenza is mainly transmitted from poultry to humans, although there may be limited, non-sustained human-to-human transmission. Tour operators organizing trips to the mainland, those receiving mainland tourists, as well as tour guides and team leaders, are urged to monitor the health condition of travelers, enhance personal health care among travelers, avoid unnecessary contact with birds or poultry, and if flu-like symptoms occur, wear a mask and seek medical attention promptly. Inform the doctor of any exposure or travel history, and report immediately. Industry associations are requested to relay epidemic prevention information to their members.
