There really is a "Next Stop, Happiness"！ The construction of New Taipei City’s Taipei Metro Circular Line is ongoing, and the future Xinzhuang section will include a station named "Xingfu" (Happiness). Just like current metro announcements, once the line opens, passengers will hear: "The next stop is Xingfu (Happiness)." But some people pointed out that if you don’t get off at Xingfu Station, doesn’t that mean you’ve “missed happiness”? The Department of Transportation responded that not getting off means you’re “staying with happiness,” so whether you choose to get off or stay on, you’re still happy.

The Department of Transportation noted that phase one of the Circular Line — a key part of New Taipei’s plan for “three loops and three lines” — is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. The Circular Line’s excellent connectivity means that after its opening, passengers will no longer need to travel into central Taipei to transfer between metro lines. It will link up Xindian, Zhonghe, Banqiao, and Xinzhuang, reducing travel time between Xindian and Xinzhuang by 20 minutes. And “The next stop is Xingfu (Happiness)” will no longer just be the name of a TV drama.

Actually, Taiwan isn’t the only place getting a “Happiness Station.” In Japan, there was also a “Happiness Station” operated by Japanese National Railways, located in Kōfuku-chō, Obihiro City, Hokkaido. Though this station was closed after the closure of the Hiroo Line, it remains a popular spot for tourism and wedding photos.
