Must-see cherry blossom highlights: Ride a train through a dreamy pink-and-white world in South Korea’s Gyeongsang Province

The top cherry blossom destination in South Korea is none other than Jinhae in Gyeongsang Province. At Gyeonghwa Station, lined with blooming cherry blossoms, the sight of petals fluttering in the wind as trains pass by creates an unforgettable pink-and-white spectacle. For those confident in their stamina, it’s recommended to start with the cherry blossom paths along Yujacheon Bridge, refuel at street food stalls, and then hike up Jangbok Mountain to enjoy blossoms along the way. If you want more than just cherry blossoms—shopping, celebrity spotting, and enjoying a convenient, bustling city trip—head to Seoul for food, fun, and entertainment. First on the list is Yeouido’s Roundabout Middle Road cherry blossom path. In early to mid-April, 1,400 cherry trees behind the National Assembly Building bloom simultaneously, creating a stunning 1.7 km tree-lined avenue. During the Cherry Blossom Festival, parts of Roundabout Middle Road are closed to traffic for visitors’ safety, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the blossoms. Another recommendation is Kyung Hee University, with its classic Korean architecture and beautiful campus. In April, over 200 cherry trees along the road from the main gate to the main building form a cherry blossom tunnel.

The walking path along the right side of the fountain leading to the Law School is also quite picturesque. Additionally, the slope connecting the Hotel & Tourism Department to the Fine Arts Department, though a bit steep, becomes one of the most iconic cherry blossom routes on campus thanks to the beautiful blossoms.

Among the many palaces in central Seoul, Changgyeonggung Palace boasts the most diverse and beautiful spring flowers. In April each year, various trees—including cherry, plum, peach, dogwood, apricot, and azalea—bloom together, creating a magnificent scene. When the flowers are in full bloom, you can enjoy the beautiful sight of white petals falling around Yukcheon Bridge (a stone bridge built in the 1400s, designated as Korean Treasure No. 386).

If you want to be among the first to see South Korea’s earliest cherry blossoms, head south to Jeju Island. Duneon Road in downtown Jeju City hosts various performances and enriching experiences every April, making it the islanders’ favorite 24-hour cherry blossom boulevard. Enjoy the lively festival during the day, and admire the night blossoms illuminated by colorful lights that keep the island beautiful at night. For a more academic vibe, the cherry blossom path at Jeju National University is a rising favorite among young people. Also worth visiting is the hidden gem near Shinjeong Park. After flower viewing, cross over to the noodle culture street for a bowl of black pork soup noodles, a uniquely Jeju treat that offers double the comfort for both body and soul.
