The famous "Crown Prince's Hot Spring" favored by Japanese royalty is right here in Pingtung’s Sichongxi Hot Spring Area

Although it’s March, the weather is still damp and chilly. Let me introduce a great place for a hot spring soak. Last time I visited the Qingquan Japanese-style Hot Spring Inn in Pingtung’s Sichongxi. This place became well-known because Japanese imperial princes once came here for their honeymoon. The Sichongxi Hot Spring area isn’t very large, and this inn is located right on the main road—great accessibility.

Sichongxi’s hot springs have been famous throughout Taiwan since the Japanese colonial era. There’s even a stone monument marking the source of the springs here—must be true, right? The spring water is mostly sodium bicarbonate, almost tasteless, and leaves your skin feeling incredibly smooth after soaking.

This Qingquan Japanese-style Hot Spring Inn has been around since the Japanese colonial period. Back then, it was called “Yamaguchi Inn,” a place where Japanese military officers came to relax in the hot springs. Later, it was expanded when Crown Prince Takamatsu (Prince Hiroyasu Fushimi) came here for his honeymoon. So although it’s been renovated, it still retains its traditional Japanese garden and layout.

A very classic Taiwanese-style front desk, but still quite elegant and refined.

They have both open-air baths and private hot spring rooms.




Next, let’s take a good look at the hot spring that Japanese princes used to soak in—also known as the “Crown Prince’s Hot Spring.”








The door is locked, so we can only peek through the glass window.


Hahaha, it’s really small. Imagine how cramped it must’ve been for two people on their honeymoon.


Back then, if there’d been an open-air hot spring like this, I would’ve just rented the whole place.










The historical photos on the walls are quite intriguing too.






This section has a very Japanese vibe and feels more refined.


Each of these private hot spring rooms is pretty nice.


Sichongxi Hot Spring is a must-visit for any hot spring enthusiast.
