United Airlines resumes non-stop Taipei–San Francisco flights on March 31

United Airlines officially launched its non-stop Taipei–San Francisco route on March 31 and held a inaugural flight ceremony at Taoyuan International Airport.United Airlines Vice Chairman and Chief Revenue Officer Jim Compton(Jim Compton), as well as distinguished guests from the American Institute in Taiwan and the Civil Aeronautics Administration of the Ministry of Transportation, all participated in the celebration.

Jim Compton stated that San Francisco offers convenient connections to over 50 cities, and he hopes passengers will experience United Airlines’ flyer-friendly service through the new non-stop Taipei–San Francisco route.

American Institute in Taiwan Director Christopher Marutalso noted at the inaugural event that since the visa waiver program was launched in November 2012, there has been a significant increase in travelers from Taiwan to the United States, and the launch of direct flights provides Taiwanese passengers with a more convenient travel option.Deputy Minister of the Civil Aeronautics Administration Lee Wan-liadded that United Airlines’ expansion into a new destination in Taiwan demonstrates the importance of the Taiwanese market.
