Travel abroad and save too！ Taiwanese travelers rank second globally for being budget-savvy

Which country’s travelers are the most budget-conscious when traveling abroad? Hotels.com recently released its 2013 Hotel Price Index report,revealing that Taiwanese people are the most frugal, paying an average of only NT$3,878 per night for hotel stays while traveling overseas—ranking as the second most budget-savvy among the 32 countries surveyed.

The title for the highest average hotel spending while traveling abroad once again goes to Swiss travelers, who pay an average of NT$5,416 per night. Argentina closely follows with NT$5,268, ranking second globally but also taking the top spot among Latin American countries. From a different perspective,only Malaysians are more budget-conscious than Taiwanese, with Taiwanese paying an average of NT$3,878 per night and Malaysians NT$3,830. Among European countries, Dutch travelers are the most thrifty, with an average nightly hotel cost of NT$4,024.

For domestic travel, hotel expenses are also led by Swiss travelers, who pay an average of NT$6,311 per night, followed by Norway and Singapore with NT$5,514 and NT$5,457 respectively, ranking second and third. At the other end of the list, Thai travelers take the top spot for being the most economical, with an average nightly domestic hotel spend of NT$2,626.In addition, compared to international travel, Taiwanese people pay a lower average nightly rate of about NT$3,326 for domestic trips, demonstrating that Taiwanese are very adept at smart spending and planning affordable travel itineraries to enjoy diverse experiences.
