On our five-person trip to Taichung, our first stop was the recently popular Cat Travel Cafe & Light Meals. What’s so special about this place that made BearMew come all the way from Taipei? The answer is: cats～cats～cats～This cat-themed cafe is best known for its 3D latte art featuring cats, as well as “meow rice,” “cat paw dumplings,” and cat-shaped cakes...

Stepping into Cat Travel Cafe & Light Meals, ready to spend a relaxing afternoon with the cats.


The small shop gets very crowded on weekends, but luckily BearMew visited on a weekday and had made a reservation in advance, so the crowd wasn’t too bad.


The signboard and entrance are covered with eye-catching cat designs.

The cafe’s rules are written on the glass, such as a 2.5-hour time limit for dining on weekends, no dogs allowed, and a minimum spend of 100 NT per person.

The shop’s star resident, Meow #1 “Ribs Princess.” She may look grumpy, but her sleeping face is super cute... In fact, she really is a proud little princess (more on that later). Among the very cute residents here, she’s especially popular, but the reason she’s called a princess is because... well, she has a bit of a princess complex... (We’ll explain why later)


The seating area isn’t large, with a simple and cozy decor that feels like home.


Every corner is a great spot for photos, and these are also the cats’ play areas.

From the outside, the space is long and narrow.


The walls are covered with many cat paintings, featuring all kinds of cats in different poses—some lazy, some focused (Bear’s comment: cats really do belong here...)


There are also fun wall doodles (like a cat falling).

Of course, there are also wooden cat carvings and decorations.


They also sell many cat-related souvenirs.


Meow #2, who often occupies a seat, is named Passion Fruit.

Let’s take a look at the menu first. It has a rather playful cover design.


The menu includes light meals, snacks, desserts, and afternoon tea sets, with prices starting from as low as 40 NT. But BearMew really wanted to try a few unique items, like “Meow Rice” (199 NT) and “Cat Paw Dumplings” (70 NT).


Drinks and coffee. A must-try is the 3D latte art coffee Up. Flavor options include classic latte (150 NT), but unfortunately, there’s a limit—you can only order one per table, it seems. Other drinks have latte art too, but it’s just flat.


If you don’t want coffee or sweet drinks, there are also various herbal teas to choose from.

Next, let’s introduce the resident cats. Meow #3 is Meezhu, with sleek black fur. Its personality is gentle, and you can go up and pet it. When gently scratched under the chin, it even closes its eyes contentedly—super cute！


Overlooking everyone from the second-floor staircase is the proud Ribs Princess.


This orange cat is Passion Fruit. On the day of BearMew’s visit, for some reason, it was running around energetically. It often plays (or fights) with the black Meezhu, and generally doesn’t like being held. So it’s a very lively Passion Fruit.

Although it doesn’t like being held, when it calms down, it still enjoys a good pat.


Now, let’s try the food here！The first thing to arrive was actually dessert！Lemon yogurt cat-shaped cake (120 NT), which surprised BearMew because the main meal hadn’t arrived yet...


Although the design is super cute and charming, it gets a little “mutilated” when you eat it～(＞＂＜). Inside, there’s a layer of lemon yogurt filling, with a crispy cookie base. The taste is pretty good, quite decent, but it definitely wins on looks.

The side dish, corn chowder, is quite rich, though served in a small bowl.


This bowl has a rich umami flavor that adds a lovely sweet-savory taste.


My friend ordered the vegetarian simple meal — Braised Pork Ribs with Fresh Mushrooms (NT$199), which turned out to be unexpectedly quite good, with a slight medicinal soup base flavor that blends the aroma of mushrooms and the tender texture of vegetarian ribs. If I had to say one thing, it’s just that the portion was a bit small.


Miao ordered the Creamy Chicken-flavored Q-baked Lasagna (NT$180, portion), and the set comes with soup and either coffee or tea. You can swap the drink for another option by deducting NT$50.


Personally, I think the Q-baked lasagna tastes pretty good — the fragrant and rich white sauce isn’t too salty, and the texture of the lasagna has layers with a bit of bite. Though there isn’t a huge amount of filling.


Next up, Miao Rice (NT$199) arrives on the scene. It’s basically a cute kitty-shaped rice dish with creamy white sauce, but at nearly NT$200, it’s not very filling for big eaters like Bear, Miao, and our friend.


Even the carrots are in adorable paw shapes. So Q.


Then there’s the Club Sandwich (Focaccia) (NT$150), which includes two sandwiches and some salad. It’s a light meal combo popular among female customers, but as always — it’s just not filling enough, sigh～


The focaccia has a slightly crispy exterior, with ham, cucumber, and cheese slices inside. It feels light on the stomach, but it’s pretty much what you’d expect — nothing too extraordinary.


Then another latte makes its appearance, featuring cute flat latte art. Even without 3D designs, these everyday flat latte arts are super adorable too！ The kitty is saying hi to us～

Finally, we have Cat Paw Tapioca Balls in Soup (NT$70), all pink and super cute！ You can choose between red bean or peanut soup base; we went with peanut. It’s basically peanut soup with two cat paw tapioca balls on top. The taste is pretty average, but those little paws are just too eye-catching — hard to even eat them.


Look at me one more time before I take you down, Up. As for the taste, it’s really just Q and soft tapioca balls.


Here comes the 3D latte art！！！ But don’t leave it on the table too long, or the kitty will slowly flatten… like an elevator going down… XD

It’s this adorable 3D cat latte art that drives everyone crazy. Next time you visit Cat Travel Café, don’t forget to order one — just looking at it puts you in a great mood.

The cats here sometimes compete with customers for seating. Most visitors are cat lovers who are more than happy to share half their seat with them...

And then she fell asleep by the window (so cute). Bear and Miao think that Cat Travel Café is a truly unique spot, especially perfect for cat-loving cat slaves. As for the food, the taste is decent but nothing amazing — just don’t expect culinary wonders. With the adorable kitties around, you can still enjoy a relaxing, healing, and delightful afternoon.
