Zhunan Railway Station in Miaoli County is hosting its first “2014 Everyone Shoots the Station” photography competition, centered around Zhunan Station and extending outward to four stations: Qiding in the north, Tanwen on the coastal line to the south, and Zaobridge on the mountain line — collectively known as the “Happy Iron Triangle.” The event aims to showcase the beauty of railways through the lens, promote the artistic and cultural atmosphere of train stations, and encourage leisure travel along the rail lines.

Zhunan Railway Station is located at the junction of the Mountain and Coastal lines of the Taiwan Railways Administration’s main trunk line, playing an indispensable role in the transportation system and often referred to as the “Taiwan Railways’ Shanhaiguan.” Station Master Yan Mubailing noted that the station neighbors three flag stops (Qiding, Tanwen, and Zaobridge), making it not only a historic tourist attraction but also a “hidden gem of Taiwan Railways” due to its rich cultural character and natural scenery. Around Qiding Railway Station are attractions such as the Qiding Mother-and-Son Tunnels and Qiding Shrine; Zaobridge Railway Station has well-preserved railway dormitories thanks to urban-rural landscape initiatives; and Tanwen Railway Station retains Japanese-era wooden architectural features. Each of the three stations has its own unique charm.

Organizers stated that the photography competition is now open for submissions, accepting entries themed around human culture, architectural art, and railway scenery, preferably photos taken within the last three years. With submissions closing on May 22, winners will receive exquisite railway-themed prizes such as a model of the Taroko Express, and selected works may be turned into postcards. Photography enthusiasts and fans of railway culture are encouraged to capture and share their images by participating enthusiastically.
