Travelers can now enjoy an easier trip between West Bay and Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung. The Kaohsiung City Government’s Transportation Bureau recently announced that starting now, every Saturday and Sunday, the “Orange Route 1 Bus,” which originally runs between West Bay and National Sun Yat-sen University, will launch a new “Orange Route 1B” service—free of charge—operating between the MRT West Bay Station and Pier-2 Art Center.

The West Bay sunset, the Pier-2 Art Center brimming with diverse artistic creations, the Takao British Consulate on Shaochuan Street, and the Xiongzhen North Gate are all must-visit tourist spots in Kaohsiung. To link West Bay and the Pier-2 Art Center into a convenient one-day itinerary, the existing “Orange Route 1 Bus,” which previously served as a shuttle between National Sun Yat-sen University and the MRT West Bay Station, will be upgraded from medium-sized to large buses every weekend.

The newly launched “Orange Route 1B Bus” will make stops at four stations each weekend: West Bay (Takao British Consulate Residence), Xiongzhen North Gate, Shaochuantou (Takao British Consulate), and Shaochuan Street. Passengers can ride for free, making it easy to enjoy a “West Bay–Pier-2 Art Center” day trip without worrying about the usual congestion caused by the narrow Shaochuan Street road. Additionally, the campaign allowing riders to take city buses for free using an EasyCard will continue until the end of June this year.
