Sky lanterns were once called “Kongming lanterns,” traditionally believed to have been designed by Zhuge Liang for military communication. Over time, they have evolved into a symbol of blessings and wishes for the public. The floating lanterns have also become the most representative cultural icon of areas such as Shifen, Pingxi, and Jing Tong.
