As Mother’s Day approaches, to thank moms for their selfless dedication and hard work for their children and families, leisure and recreational venues across the island are offering numerous special promotions for moms. Northern Taiwan

Taipei City:The newly completed Dahu Park will hold an inauguration ceremony on the 10th, coinciding with Mother’s Day celebrations. The Taipei City Parks Department will also prepare carnations to give to moms who attend the event that day.

New Taipei City:The New Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau and its affiliated museums or leisure arts and culture parks have launched the “Glam Mommy” campaign. On Mother’s Day, visitors to venues such as the Gold Museum, Yingge Ceramics Museum, and Sanxia History Museum will receive one instant family photo. However, quantities are limited and will be given out until supplies run out. In addition, each museum has also introduced various limited-time offers and events:

Lin Family Garden: Offers a face-threading experience
Gold Museum: Moms can enjoy free access to the No. 5 Pit Tunnel
Tamsui Historic Museum: Gives visiting moms a limited-edition 3D floral card and a free blind massage experience. Sanxia History Museum: Showcasing indigenous cultures, moms can try on beautiful traditional clothing from various tribes for free and take commemorative photos.
Pinglin Tea Museum: Experience tea-dyed fabric

Central Taiwan

Nantou County:"Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village" is offering female visitors a discounted ticket price of 390 NTD every weekend from now until June 2. "Xitou Monster Village" is holding its first-ever Monster Courage Challenge from the 10th to the 18th, guiding participants through nearby “Wooden Horse Ancient Forest Trail” at night with obstacles and adventures in the forest—but this activity is only open to guests staying at Xitou Mingshan Forest Lodge.

Taichung City:The Guguan Community Development Association is holding the “Warm May, Bear-Loving Moms” campaign in the Guguan area from now until June 1: On May 10 and 11, “Say I Love You, Bear-Loving Moms” free hot spring entry promotions will be available at hotels in the Guguan Hot Spring area. Visitors just need to shout “Bear-Loving Moms” in Taiwanese at the participating hotel front desks, and moms can enjoy free hot springs and receive a mystery gift. Each family is limited to one gift, and during the two-day event, each hotel will offer 20 limited slots per day.

Additionally, visitors can take photos with “Teddy Bear” inflatable mascots and check in at the plaza in front of the Guguan Hot Spring Cultural Museum to receive a hot spring voucher or related souvenir. Each person is limited to one, while supplies last.

"Houli Horse Ranch" is offering free admission for moms on the 11th. "Caotun Nostalgic Taiwan Era Village" not only gives out free carnations on Mother’s Day to thank moms for their hard work, but moms can also enjoy free park entry, gifts, and local moms will additionally receive a family photo commemorative mug or a Mother’s Day-themed keychain.

Southern Taiwan

Yunlin County:E-Da Theme Park is launching the “Spoil Mom Special” every weekend from the 10th to the 25th. Moms can enjoy an exclusive discounted admission price of NT$399 by simply showing their ID card and household registration booklet, and will also receive a NT$400 cash voucher that can be used for food and souvenirs in the park. On the 10th and 11th, the park will debut Taiwan’s highest-altitude love declaration event: visitors who ride the 20-story-high Sky Shuttle and shout “Mom, I love you!” while free-falling from great heights can win limited-edition E-Da Theme Park gifts if they reach the required decibel level.

Tainan City:The “2014 One Sight, Two Wonders Art Festival,” hosted by the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration, offers moms free entry at three main venues on Mother’s Day. There’s also the “One Sight, One Gift” event: at the “Mazhuo Fishing Harbor Recreation Area,” moms can enjoy a free vertical wind tunnel experience (limited to 50 people) to feel the thrill of floating in the air, plus receive a phone dust bag (limited to 200); the “Taiwan Salt Museum” offers product discount vouchers, and “Qigu Salt Mountain” will give away a set of cleaning toothbrush and toothpaste gift packs (limited to 100).

The “Xinhua Tiger Head Pond Scenic Area” is holding a series of events starting in May, including the 2014 Music Season and the Golden Rain Tree Flower Season, as well as free admission for moms on Mother’s Day. “Zoumalai Farm” has launched a series of “Bring Mom & Family” Mother’s Day celebration activities. Visitors entering on the 10th and 11th can enjoy a special discounted ticket price of NT$200. The farm has also prepared symbolic carnations for moms and provided materials for children to DIY Mother’s Day bookmark cards to express their gratitude.

Kaohsiung City:On the 11th, which is also Mother’s Day, the “2014 Taiwan International Boat Show” will see the Kaohsiung City Government’s Ocean Affairs Bureau and Agriculture Bureau distribute 3,000 anthuriums. The newly launched cruise route from “Sin Guang Pier – Cijin Ferry Terminal” will offer free rides for moms from the 8th to the 11th, along with Mother’s Day gifts.

At “E-DA Theme Park” from now until the 11th, moms can enjoy half-price admission by presenting their household registration booklet or ID. The E-DA Royal Theater’s stunt show “Stunt WOW WOW WOW” features dynamic dance and American-style trampoline stunts condensed into a 30-minute highlight performance for moms to enjoy. Pingtung County:Forest Recreation Area has specially planned the “Warm May Love in Forest King” travel package, encouraging filial children to travel with their moms and experience the “Forest King” challenge-to-win-prizes activity. Yilan County:The “Yilan Green Expo” will hold a series of Mother’s Day events on the 10th and 11th, when moms across the country can enter for free. The Yilan County Government will also provide 2,000 blessing cards at the entrance for visitors to write their “messages to mom,” which will then be tied onto a bamboo-woven installation inspired by the Xueshan Tunnel, symbolizing a mother’s love as long and enduring as the tunnel.

Penghu County:To thank mothers for their hard work, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration has launched the “Take Mommy on a Trip” campaign, featuring a special “Love Certificate” at the Beiliao Kuibi Mountain Moses Parting the Sea scenic spot. From now until the end of May, visitors who take photos with their family at the Moses Parting the Sea site (open according to tide schedules) on the Beiliao Kuibi Mountain Trail and upload them to thePenghu National Scenic Area “菊岛欢乐游” fan pagealong with their contact number and address, can receive an exquisitely crafted limited-edition love certificate.
