The most beautiful nighttime sight in Chiayi has to be this. In 2016, the Chiayi City Government built the country’s largest music fountain in Lantan Scenic Area, designing eight different light-and-water dance performances with ever-changing water jets. By combining music and lighting effects, it brings the dark nights of Chiayi to life.

The Lantan Fountain, accompanied by lights and sound effects, offers eight spectacular shows, using 35 different water jet patterns such as “Skyrocket Jet,” “Seagull Dance,” “Corkscrew Spin,” “Left-Right Sway,” “Crown Water Dance,” and “Arch Fountain” to create various mesmerizing scenes. The maximum jet height can reach up to 50 meters, leaving audiences in awe. During the Lunar New Year holiday period, the stunning water dance performances attracted nearly 90,000 visitors, making it a must-visit hot spot at night.

However, in April this year, due to the dry season, the Ministry of Economic Affairs decided that the Chiayi area would enter the first stage of water rationing, and the music fountain performances were temporarily suspended. After two months of continuous heavy rain, the dry season has finally passed. The magnificent Lantan Music Fountain will officially resume operations at 7:30 p.m. on June 24. Visitors can plan a romantic summer water dance date at Lantan Music Fountain.
