If you're looking to enjoy a movie night with friends or family, besides going to the cinema or cuddling on the couch, you have a better option this summer. The 2017 Hsinchu City Green Lawn Film Festival (Film Festival on Green) breaks away from the conventional model of just watching movies, staying in air-conditioned rooms, and post-screening discussions. It takes the festival outdoors, allowing everyone to enjoy a cinematic feast on the summer night grass while reducing household electricity use. Free picnic mats are also available for loan, so that the public can enjoy movies in the breeze while having a picnic.

This year, the Hsinchu City Green Lawn Film Festival has moved its screenings outdoors, with venues ranging from park lawns and temples to sports fields. The festival kicks off with the popular Disney animation Moana, making it perfect for family viewing. In addition to Moana, the festival will also screen films such as WALL-E, Bee Taiwan, Tomorrow’s Tune, and The Eagle’s Flight, allowing audiences to engage with environmental and ecological issues while enjoying the movies.
