As more and more brunch cafes open, it’s difficult to attract customers without a distinctive feature. Located in Taipei’s Nangang Software Park, “S one café” stands out with its anime theme. The store’s exclusively designed manga wall is highly eye-catching, featuring a collection of 2,000 manga comics. Another major highlight is the presence of various sizes of Totoro, No-Face, and Ponyo plush toys to keep you company while you eat, making you feel as if you’ve stepped into the magical world of Studio Ghibli films – so adorable it’ll bring out your inner girliness.

Located within Nangang Software Park, “S one café” is tucked between the Nangang Software buildings. Upon entering, you’ll see a full glass display case housing 2,000 manga and comic books that customers can browse freely. The shop has also thoughtfully set up a book return box. The second-floor mezzanine has a high ceiling and about 30 seats. Though not very large, the dining environment is quite comfortable.

For food, in addition to brunch, coffee, savory pies, and pancakes, the hidden gem on the menu is the Totoro Tower – a dessert made with a crispy tart shell and a soft cheese filling based on sesame. With a crispy outside and soft inside texture, it costs NT$100 per serving and requires advance reservation. The café does not charge a service fee and has no set dining time limit.

“S one café” is jointly operated by three sisters who, being huge fans of Hayao Miyazaki’s animations, specifically positioned the restaurant around an anime and Miyazaki theme. The owner loves to travel the world and has also collected souvenirs from various countries. A wall of Starbucks cups is truly a sight to behold. While dining, you can take photos, flip through comics, and before you know it, a lot of time has flown by.
