As this year’s “518 Museum Day” falls on a weekend holiday, the newly opened National Museum of Marine Science & Technology is offering a special deal: both adults and children can enjoy a 50% discount on full-price tickets to the theme pavilion (NT$100) on that day, allowing everyone to explore the museum with joy. In conjunction with the museum’s “Colorful Ocean Public Art Season,” visitors on Museum Day can not only experience rich marine education within the museum but also “art-tour” the museum and enjoy its public art installations.

Designed with the concepts of “marine technology and culture” and the “historical background of thermal power plants,” and incorporating the spirit of natural ecology and humanistic care, the museum has installed a number of permanent and temporary public art pieces that connect the distinctive spaces of different exhibition areas. On Museum Day, guided art tours will be held at the North Thermal Power Hall on the third floor of the theme pavilion at 10:00, 11:00, 14:00, and 15:00, totaling four sessions. Additionally, two fun activities — “Art. E Tour Unending” and “Art Connect” — have been planned to let visitors enjoy a playful day at the museum.

The “Art. E Tour Unending” activity is spread out around various public art installations. Visitors simply need to scan QR code points with their smartphones or tablets to unlock interactive challenges and solve marine-themed puzzles by following hidden treasure clues. Meanwhile, for the “Art Connect” activity, participants can pick up a “Bingo Card” task sheet at any museum counter, and by answering questions to complete three Bingos, they can enter a lucky draw.
