United Airlines is expected to launch flights between Tokyo and San Francisco on October 28.

In addition to launching daily non-stop flights from Taipei to San Francisco, United Airlines recently announced the addition of a new international route from Tokyo Haneda Airport to San Francisco, with service scheduled to officially begin on October 28, 2014 (subject to government approval).

Once the new flight is launched, Tokyo Haneda Airport will become the 10th destination on United Airlines’ trans-Pacific non-stop routes from San Francisco, and the third new direct point in the Asia-Pacific region this year following Taipei and Chengdu, China.

The United Airlines flight UA875 between San Francisco and Haneda Airport will depart San Francisco International Airport at 6:35 p.m. daily and arrive at Haneda Airport at 10:05 p.m. the following evening. The return flight, UA876, will depart Haneda Airport at 12:05 a.m. daily, cross the International Date Line, and is expected to arrive at San Francisco International Airport at 5:15 p.m. the previous day (all times are local). The outbound flight duration is approximately 11 hours and 30 minutes, while the return journey takes about 9 hours and 10 minutes. As U.S. daylight saving time ends on November 2, 2014, the arrival and departure times at San Francisco Airport for this flight will be moved up by one hour. The route will be operated using Boeing 777 aircraft.
