In the quaint countryside of Liujia, Tainan, I came across an unusually eye-catching, vibrantly colored building. At first glance, I even thought it was a newly opened resort homestay. But wait—“what the?” Is this actually a school? On a holiday morning, I was cycling to the Dongshan Coffee Highway and stopped in Liujia District to grab some breakfast. That’s when I suddenly found this gorgeous building. With its eye-popping geometric design, bright colors, and a stunning flamingo-shaped installation, it was truly breathtaking. What kind of special building is this? I snapped plenty of pictures to share with everyone...

It’s hard to tell if it’s a homestay or a school, but what captivated us were the geometric curves and vibrant colors that completely shattered our stereotypes of traditional schools. The brightly colored house, with its bold palette, was surprisingly eye-catching. Who would’ve thought that even this traditional countryside is embracing colorful murals? We parked our bikes and rushed over for a closer look.

As we stepped onto the campus and looked up, we were stunned—it was absolutely gorgeous. Is this really a school? It looked more like a homestay. Truly an astonishing sight.

The unique lines, bold color palette, and lively curves create a multi-layered visual experience that defines the essence of Liujia Elementary School. Its stunning exterior and captivating design beauty draw people in, making them pause and snap endless photos.

Set against lush green lawns, the brightly colored school buildings give Liujia Elementary School in Tainan its playful character. Once an obscure little school, it has now transformed into the most beautiful elementary school in Tainan.

I love campuses like this—the colors are so vivid, and the strong contrast of the geometric design creates a comfortable, energetic, and lively atmosphere. It’s such a cheerful elementary school.

The newly built Xixi Building breaks away from the traditional image of school architecture. Beyond its diverse colors and geometric shapes, it also incorporates the local specialty—the flamingo—into outdoor art installations. Doesn’t this make the school building even more dazzling?

Liujia Elementary School underwent renovation of its old buildings two years ago in celebration of its 105th anniversary, with the project completed last year. The new structures adopt “gable and red brick” as their spatial design theme, creating a localized cluster-style architectural identity. They also integrate landscape-inspired forms to craft a learning space where nature and culture blend seamlessly, embodying the school’s spirit of “heritage and mentorship.”

Sometimes during travels, you stumble upon such a colorful school by chance. With its vivid and striking appearance, you might also find yourself wondering if it’s a homestay or a school. If you were in this situation, you’d probably stop in your tracks and start snapping photos non-stop too.

Stepping into the school instantly brought back memories of my carefree elementary school days—running around the playground, chatting with classmates, sneaking bites of lunch during class. Every moment back then was filled with happiness and joy... Ah, how I wish I could go back.

I’m from a neighboring town, and I just learned that the flamingo is a local specialty of Liujia. The red, yellow, and green color scheme of the sculpture gives the whole school a lively and energetic vibe. The clever design showcases the harmony between nature and culture, making Liujia Elementary School a new landmark in Tainan.

On a holiday, with no classes in session and the teachers and students on summer break, the campus was enveloped in a serene morning atmosphere. The sky was a brilliant blue, not a single cloud in sight, and I explored the entire school on my own.

Walking through every corner of the campus brought constant surprises. The children who study here must feel so happy and joyful.

Standing outside the school, looking at the adorable cartoon-style fence, the bright and beautiful buildings, and the added touch of the flamingo sculpture, the overall visual appeal is elevated even more.

Liujia Elementary School, with its new and beautiful architecture, is a fantastic tourist spot. When visiting Tainan, consider stopping by here. Since it’s currently summer vacation and there’s no access control, visitors are encouraged to tour quietly, take photos respectfully, maintain cleanliness, and avoid dirtying the restrooms to lessen the burden on the students.
