EVA Air’s “Taoyuan–Okinawa” Route Officially Launched

EVA Air’s newly launched “Taoyuan Airport–Okinawa” route made its inaugural flight on the 17th, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held that afternoon at Terminal 2 of Taoyuan Airport. Okinawa’s mascot, MAHAE CHAN, also made a special appearance to celebrate.

EVA Air General Manager Cheng Chuan-yi stated that Okinawa is EVA Air’s 11th destination in Japan and the closest to Taiwan. Known as one of the “world’s four great coastal tourist destinations,” this island boasts a rich variety of cuisine, culture, and charm, making it consistently popular among Taiwanese travelers.

According to statistics from the Okinawa Convention & Visitors Bureau Taipei Office, approximately 254,000 Taiwanese visited Okinawa in 2013, a 70% increase from 149,000 in 2012. Recognizing the growth potential of the Okinawa market, EVA Air chose to launch the route just before the peak summer travel season to meet the increasing demand for overseas trips during the holidays.

In the future, the “Taoyuan Airport–Okinawa” route will operate one daily round-trip flight, served by an A321-200 aircraft with 8 business class seats and 176 economy class seats, totaling 184 seats.
