Top 10 Best Airports in the World to Kill Time – Taoyuan International Airport Makes the List

An American travel website (matadornetwork.com) released its list of the world’s top 10 airports for killing time this (June) month, with Taoyuan International Airport ranking 10th thanks to its globally first-ranked airport e-library. In addition to the e-library, Taoyuan International Airport will continue to develop various interesting spaces in the future, including a movie-themed lounge in Terminal 2 that is set to launch soon.

Taoyuan International Airport has two electronic airport libraries: the C5 Flying Lounge and the D2 Taoyuan Library. The C5 Flying Lounge offers over 2,000 eco-friendly books, more than 400 Chinese and English e-books, and audiovisual children’s books. The D2 Taoyuan Library has thousands of books in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, French, and German, as well as comfortable sofa chairs, making it easy for travelers from around the world to read in a relaxed and leisurely environment. There are also two scenic e-libraries at boarding gates A8 and B7, where passengers can read e-magazines while watching planes. This year’s (2014) book-sharing campaign has also introduced book zones in the family reading area of the Terminal 1 arrivals hall and the children’s play area in the Terminal 2 arrivals hall, each offering hundreds of books for passengers to enjoy during their wait.

In addition, Taoyuan International Airport offers freshly baked pineapple cakes daily at boarding gate C2 and the central area of the Departure Hall on the third floor of Terminal 1, attracting large crowds of travelers with their enticing aroma. The Terminal 1 Arrival Hall also has a gym available for passengers. Boarding gate D2 also includes a yoga practice area and an esports experience zone, featuring an Xbox and a display area for Taiwanese esports equipment brands, allowing travelers to enjoy their wait through gaming, videos, and fitness.

Other airports on the list include San Francisco International Airport in the U.S., which has a yoga room; Munich Airport in Germany, which features a seasonal indoor ice rink and freshly brewed beer; Hong Kong Airport, which has flight simulators where children can try on uniforms to role-play various professions; Incheon Airport in South Korea, which has a medical center and a 9-hole golf course; and Singapore’s Changi Airport, which took the top spot with a 40-meter, roughly four-story indoor slide.
