Roasting beans under the moonlight at Luna Café on Tiger Head Mountain — a romantic coffee spot for moon gazing

The latest creation from Luna Café, the Taoyuan branch has opened near Tiger Head Mountain. The most eye-catching feature? The owner has brought the moon inside the café. Because, as he says, he wants to roast coffee beans under the moonlight — how romantic is that? At Luna Café Taoyuan, you can enjoy coffee while moon gazing — super cool. Thanks to my friend Ellen for sharing the news about this new shop; she’s truly a food radar for northern Taiwan. While visiting her parents in Taoyuan, she rushed right over. The two-story shop sits right by a busy road — cars move fast here, so please be careful crossing the street.

From the outside, you can see the moon hanging high on the second floor — it’s incredible. Taoyuan’s coffee scene is truly limitless.

Currently in soft opening, the menu mainly features coffee and desserts. Maybe they’ll offer drinks in the future?

The first floor has a spacious layout dominated by white tones, with a minimalist counter and a fresh style.

Right at the entrance is a coffee roaster, and on the floor sit two adorable elephant-shaped sofas.

Looking up from the roaster, you’ll see the moon right above your head — roasting beans under the moonlight? The owner means business.

The café also sells coffee beans with stylish packaging.

Walking in feels like entering an artsy space — no sense of oppression, just a unique vibe.

I couldn’t wait to head upstairs to find the legendary moon.

The second floor has a completely different style, with retro-style tiles on the floor and well-spaced tables and chairs — still roomy and not cramped.

That’s the light. That’s the light. This is the best seat for moon gazing while sipping coffee — just stunningly beautiful.

This moon is pretty big, and there’s a real hole underneath that lets you see straight down to the first floor. I almost didn’t dare get too close because my legs were shaking — everyone, be careful when taking photos here.

Families with young children are advised to stay on the first floor. It’s better to have adult supervision if going upstairs, though it’s fine for taking photos.

The No-Face Bread from Luna Café — I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s not available at the Taoyuan branch for now. But today, all eyes were on the moon.

Thanks to the shop for serving the Yirgacheffe.

Seeing Ellen’s large latte, I was afraid I wouldn’t finish it, so I ordered a cappuccino instead. It’s topped with latte art of No-Face and Totoro — the coffee flavor is mild and smooth.

The pancake served by the shop — super cute.

Matcha Fresh Cheese Cake – NT$100
The fresh cheese has a rich texture, with a strong cheese flavor. The matcha taste isn’t overpowering, but it depends on personal preference.

Kenya AA

This is a light-roast bean, with a milder flavor, but Jay said you can still taste the coffee aroma. (Purely personal feeling)

Selfie time — call me “Wonder Woman.” Just this moon alone had us taking photos for ages. Luckily, it wasn’t too crowded today. The place echoes, so I think we must’ve been pretty loud. But I’m sure all the influencers will snap even more stunning photos here soon.
