Golden rice fields and winding paths: "Yilan's Lang Lang Boulevard" becomes a hit

In Taitung’s Chihshang, there’s a “Lang Lang Boulevard” that became famous thanks to Takeshi Kaneshiro, attracting many visitors on holidays. Recently, the Sanchi rice field area in Dongshan Township, Yilan County, has also gained attention for its vast rice fields and meandering paths, earning the title of Yilan’s “Lang Lang Boulevard” and drawing many photography enthusiasts.

This spot was originally known only among photography enthusiasts as a “hidden gem,” but it went viral after being featured on Facebook. In addition to photographers, it has also attracted many tourists who come to pay homage. Some businesses even brought in cranes to allow visitors to take high-angle photos for a fee.

However, because the roads in the Sanchi rice field area are narrow—only about 5 meters wide—when too many vehicles park along the sides, it affects the access of farm vehicles. As a result, some local representatives have suggested building a viewing tower here so people can take photos from above, and planting flower fields during fallow seasons. But since the land is all privately owned, acquiring the necessary plots is difficult. Moreover, the area is low-lying and prone to waterlogging when it rains, making it unsuitable for flower cultivation. The township office considers this proposal to be not very feasible.
