Come listen to the Toilet Bowl Choir sing at Tokyo’s “Toilet Exhibition,” which explains the life of poop

Have you ever wondered what we would do with our pee and poop if there were no toilets? Japan, with its unique bathroom culture, is currently hosting the“Our Poop and the Earth’s Future”exhibition at the Miraikan in Odaiba, exploring the journey of poop. Visitors can also become excrement and slide down a 5-meter-high giant toilet slide to see where poop goes after it’s flushed.

The exhibition is divided into 8 zones, starting with a high-tech “Golden Toilet” and a “Crystal Toilet” made from 70,000 artificial crystals. It then introduces the relationship between the shape of feces and health, and even brings in fresh poop samples from nine different animals at Ueno Zoo for up-close observation.

Starting from the second zone, cute mascots shaped like toilets and toilet paper rolls introduce space toilets, current global toilet issues, what you can do while using the toilet, and more. There’s also the “Toilet Choir” singing bathroom songs in the exhibition area for you to enjoy.

The most distinctive feature of the exhibition is the 5-meter-high toilet slide. Kids can put on poop hats, climb up the toilet opening, and then slide down along the “water flow.” Through animations on the floor, they can see how waste is processed and flows into the sea after being flushed. Some kids said the experience was amazing, though becoming poop “still felt kind of gross.”
