Last updated 2026-09-25 — This late-night izakaya eatery in Yilan, ‘Linbei Kao Hao Skewers & Sake Bar,’ has actually opened three branches in Yilan already. Business is booming, and the prices are affordable with delicious food. It’s always been my go-to spot when I’m in Yilan to hang out, chat, and dine with friends. We can talk until late at night and no one will kick us out – perfect for someone like me who loves the nightlife.

It’s not far from Su’ao Lesen Live Resort B&B to Luodong – just a 20-minute drive by car. So after having afternoon tea at Lesen Live and lounging in bed for a while, we decided to head to Luodong for dinner. This late-night izakaya eatery in Yilan, ‘Linbei Kao Hao Skewers & Sake Bar,’ has actually opened three branches in Yilan already. Business is booming, and the prices are affordable with delicious food. It’s always been my go-to spot when I’m in Yilan to hang out, chat, and dine with friends. We can talk until late at night and no one will kick us out – perfect for someone like me who loves the nightlife.

Located on Guangrong Road in Luodong Town, right by the main road. The shop isn’t big, so it’s easy to miss, but it’s actually a very Japanese-style little place~

The interior decor is also very much in the style of a Japanese izakaya.

The bar counter is designed in a way that makes you just want to have a couple of drinks here.

The Luodong branch mainly has private rooms. The shop isn’t large, but it’s divided into five or six private rooms.

The sake from Japan comes in bottles with really unique designs.

A Japanese beauty dressed in a kimono.

Haha, continuing the style of the first two branches, it goes for a casual yet Japanese-inspired decor.

Simple wooden tables and chairs – I think there’s a bit of a clever touch here, because stools aren’t great for sitting on for long periods XD

In addition to skewers and fried foods, there’s also a hot wok station serving Taiwanese dishes...

Complimentary from the shop: edamame. It might not be the same every day, but there’s always some kind of appetizer from the house.

Japanese-style shredded onions. The texture is very refreshing – I actually love shredded onions, though the aftertaste isn’t the best.

Cod liver with shredded onions. Who knew cod liver and shredded onions would go so well together? The sweet and fresh cod liver paired with the onions helps cut through the fishiness~

Beef skewers. Grilled to release an aromatic fragrance, full of oil and juiciness – pretty tasty.

Chicken skewers. The chicken retains its tenderness and juiciness – delicious.

Sakura shrimp fried rice. The grains are distinct and fragrant with sakura shrimp, though it feels a bit too oily, but overall it’s pretty good~

Bacon scallion rolls. Personally, I feel the bacon is grilled to a slightly crispy and fragrant level, paired with the fragrant, juicy, and crisp Sanxing scallions – all aspects are pretty good, but the downside is that the seasoning is a bit heavy, making it a tad too salty, aaaaah.

Salt-grilled yam. I have an inexplicable obsession with yam because I rarely get to eat it usually. Suddenly I’m thinking maybe I should grill some yam this Mid-Autumn Festival. Just lightly sprinkled with salt, the grilled yam has a slightly crispy texture. As soon as you bite into it, you get that soft, moist, and sticky gelatin – refreshing and delicious.

Crispy chicken cartilage. These chicken cartilage pieces are an absolute hit – their crispy outside and tender, crunchy inside have my friends raving about how good they are.

Red snapper jaw. They say those who know how to eat definitely go for the fish jaw – it’s the most tender and flavorful part. I really do agree with that, and it’s also quite rich in fat.

Pacific saury. Actually, the Pacific saury today was a bit overcooked – way too dry~ XDD

Cranberry sour. I love their cocktails – refreshing and not overly sweet.

Calpis orange juice. Regular Calpis can be a bit sweet, but they balanced it with lemon, making it just right – really great.

Four of us ordered so many dishes and were completely full, but I don’t know how much it cost – this day was treated by an old brother I’ve known for ages from the area. When I’m in Yilan, I often don’t know where to go late at night to find a place to chat, drink, and have some barbecue with friends, because locals tend to go to bed quite early. That’s when Linbei Kao Hao becomes the best choice. It’s truly Yilan’s local late-night eatery~ the top pick for a midnight snack. If you’re in Yilan City, you can come to Linbei Kao Hao Yilan Branch, or if you’re in Jiaoxi, you can go to Linbei Kao Hao Jiaoxi Branch. I’ve somehow managed to visit all of them XD. Seriously, when I want to hang out with friends for drinks and chats, Linbei Kao Hao is really perfect – highly recommended^^
