"Hiroshima Landslide" Disrupts Local Transport; Subways and Buses Suspended

Heavy rain caused severe disasters in Hiroshima, Japan. On the 20th, a major landslide occurred in the Asaminami and Asakita districts of Hiroshima City. By around 10 a.m. on the 21st, the death toll had risen to 39, with 7 people still missing. Local land transportation has also been severely affected by the landslide.

According to reports from Japanese media, JR West announced on the 21st that its "Kabe Line" between Midorii Station and Kabe Station, as well as the "Geibi Line" between Mitsugi Station and Hiroshima Station, were temporarily suspended due to water and mudflow intrusion. City buses were also affected. The "Kirihara-Kamihara Line," running from Kirihara to Kamihara in the Asaminami district, and the "Hinoyama Line," from Kirihara to Hinoyama, were both fully suspended for the entire day on the 21st.

Currently, 2,500 police, firefighters, and Self-Defense Force personnel have been deployed to continue search operations at the site, hoping to find more potential survivors.
