Direct trains to “Gaomei Wetlands” for a pilgrimage to stunning scenery    Bus 309 runs daily

Taiwan’s Gaomei Wetlands boast rich intertidal and wetland ecosystems, and the picturesque sunset scenery, especially as the sun sets, captivates visitors. It’s not only a must-visit spot for travelers from across Taiwan but has also been hailed by foreign websites as “a breathtaking view you must see at least once in your life.” To allow more people to enjoy the beauty of Gaomei Wetlands, the Transportation Bureau has added three new sightseeing bus routes, including Bus 309, which runs daily and has officially started service.

Although many wish to make a pilgrimage to this beautiful site, the relatively remote location of the Gaomei Wetlands posed transportation challenges for tourists. In response, the Taichung City Government Transportation Bureau has opened three sightseeing bus routes, allowing passengers to quickly travel between the Gaomei Wetlands and surrounding attractions. The first route, Bus 655, officially launched in April and stops at attractions such as Wind Turbine No. 9, Rainbow Village, and Wushi Fishing Harbor along the way.

The Transportation Bureau stated that the number of visitors to the Gaomei Wetlands has reached 100,000 per month. With facilities such as the visitor center and the cross-sea scenic bridge being completed successively, the second route, Bus 688, also began service in May. However, Routes 655 and 688 only operate on holidays. Bus 309 was officially announced on the 7th and will run daily, traveling directly from Taichung Railway Station to the Gaomei Wetlands, making it easy for visitors to enjoy the scenery without driving.
