Attention: Moses Parting the Sea in Penghu – Check the Adjusted Access Times for Footpaths on Specific Days from July to September

To protect marine ecology and ensure visitor safety, the “Moses Parting the Sea” land bridge between Bei’liao and Chi’yü in Penghu has been off-limits for landing since April, with footpath access restricted to between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM daily. However, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau has announced,that during the “specific tidal days” (about 7 days per month) from July to September, the opening hours will be adjusted to 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

The Bei’liao–Chi’yü land bridge (Moses Parting the Sea) area has become one of Penghu’s must-visit attractions in recent years. However, according to ongoing geological monitoring by the Penghu Administration, the Chi’yü land bridge is at risk of deformation and landslides. As a result, access control measures were implemented starting April this year.

Currently, the Moses Parting the Sea area is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. However, in consideration of morning and evening tidal periods, the Penghu Administration has announced adjusted access times for specific days from July to September. On these specific days, the opening hours are extended from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, while entry is prohibited during all unstaffed hours.

July:11th, 12th, 13th, 25th, 26th, 27th.
August:9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 23rd, 24th, 25th.
September:7th, 8th, 9th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd.

The accessible area of Moses Parting the Sea is within 7.5 meters to either side of the centerline of the footpath. Aside from entering during the permitted hours, any attempt to access the area during prohibited times is not allowed, and “landing on Chi’yü” is forbidden. Violators may face fines ranging from NT$5,000 to NT$1 million under the Development of Tourism Act.
