The biggest Taiwanese food fair of the year features amazing dishes—over 800 booths serving everything from Taiwan to the world

Taiwan’s largest annual food event, the “2017 Taiwan Culinary Exhibition,” will be held from July 21 to 24 at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. The Taiwan Visitors Association has specially invited five participating organizations to give an exclusive preview of their exhibits, including: the Council of Agriculture’s specially curated “Colorful Agriculture Pavilion,” where creative rice dishes made with colorful rice resembling macarons, red glutinous rice, and purple rice will be showcased; the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ “Flavorful Times Pavilion,” themed around “100+ Must-Try Dishes from Time-Honored Shops,” invites 28 local eateries with over 20 years of history to present 100 classic Taiwanese dishes, bringing Taiwan’s culinary delights to the world.

The 2017 Taiwan Culinary Exhibition is divided into six major zones: “Art of Food,” “Utensils of Food,” “Ingredients of Food,” “Journeys of Food,” “Companions of Food,” and “Education of Food,” featuring 20 themed pavilions and over 800 booths, offering visitors a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. Among them, the Council of Agriculture will bring local Taiwanese delicacies and specialty ingredients to the “Colorful Agriculture Pavilion.” The Hakka Affairs Council will feature Hakka pork balls and pumpkin rolls, showcasing the unique flavors of Hakka cuisine, while other pavilions will offer international railway bento boxes from two countries, such as Korea and Japan, allowing you to travel the world without leaving Taiwan.

In addition, the venue will also display award-winning entries from this year’s “Small Eats, Big Ware – 2017 Taiwan Specialty Snack Tableware Innovation Design Competition” organized by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. Featuring 10 iconic Taiwanese snacks—such as sesame oil chicken, beef noodle soup, rice dumplings, and squid soup—the competition showcases innovative tableware designs that elevate the charm and refinement of traditional Taiwanese street food.
