Many travelers have experienced the frustration of being charged extra for accidentally using mini bar items or having to go to the lobby just to access free Wi-Fi. But at this Brisbane hotel, the mini bar offers complimentary snacks and drinks, and free Wi-Fi is available everywhere. As a result, staff won’t ask about mini bar usage during check-out — because it’s completely free.

Brisbane’s NEXT Hotels is designed to meet the needs of modern business travelers. As the flagship brand of Singapore’s Silver Needle Hospitality group, the world’s first NEXT Hotel grandly opened on the 24th in one of Australia’s premier shopping districts — the Queen Street Mall in Brisbane. This 304-room hotel is one of the city’s most significant recent redevelopment projects.

"When we created the Next Hotels brand, we seized the opportunity to redefine industry service standards, with the sole goal of putting our guests in control," said Iqbal Jumabhoy, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Silver Needle Hospitality Group. "To return to the basics of good service, we carefully considered various ways to make our guests’ business lives easier, and even more enjoyable."

Not only that, NEXT Hotels is the first hotel in Australia to use mobile phones as room keys. Guests can check in and out, unlock their rooms, adjust temperature, lighting, and entertainment channels — even from outside their rooms. If guests arrive before the standard 3:00 PM check-in time and their room isn’t ready, they can head to the 24-hour Club Lounge free of charge. Facilities include an outdoor pool and adjacent terrace bar, a 24-hour gym, and a business center. Most uniquely, the hotel also features an InTransit Zone with showers and the city’s only sleep pods for guests needing rest after long-haul flights.
