Winter little joys: Kaohsiung’s new attraction “Borai Hot Spring Park” offers free foot baths in December

The long-awaited new attraction in Kaohsiung is finally opening. As the weather gets cooler, there’s no better time to visit Borai Hot Spring Park. Famous for its hot springs and plum blossoms, Borai in Kaohsiung’s Liouguei District will officially open on December 23, just before Christmas. Visiting for a hot spring soak and flower viewing this Christmas is also a great idea.

The Borai area in Kaohsiung’s Liouguei District is a hot spring zone located beside a tributary of the Zhuolong River. Severely damaged by Typhoon Morakot in the past, it has been rebuilt through great effort. A new hot spring source was discovered, and the brand-new attraction “Borai Flower Viewing Hot Spring Park” has finally been completed. From December 1 to 17, it opened early to the public for a sneak peek at its foot bath facilities, warming hands and feet during the winter.

▲Future pricing is expected to be NT$50 for a full ticket and NT$25 for a half ticket, with free entry for residents of Liouguei District as well as those under 6 years old (not including 6) and 65 years old and above (including 65).

Kaohsiung’s Liouguei District boasts rich natural beauty, with famous attractions such as the Eighteen Arhats Mountains, Maolin National Scenic Area, Butterfly Valley, and Pulai Stream Toushe War Trail. Visiting in winter also offers the chance to admire plum blossoms. Borai Hot Spring Park will officially open on the 23rd, currently offering free admission and experiences. Foot baths are expected to start charging fees from January 1 next year.
