Located next to Houshanpi MRT Station, "Steamed Seafood Restaurant by Steampai" has been open for over half a year, specializing in high-cost-performance "three ways to enjoy live fish," setting itself apart from many other steamed seafood restaurants. "One of our owners is an angler, and we have many angler friends—freshly caught seafood is something you won't find elsewhere. Our highlight is freshness!" As part of a special promotion, from now until the end of September, customers who show the ETNEWS News Cloud app when dining in can receive a portion of angel red shrimp for free!

In addition to set meals for two or more people based on group size, the restaurant also offers à la carte options. There are also some daily specials not listed on the menu. Since they replenish their catch nightly with fish freshly caught that day from Keelung Fishing Port—rather than using net-caught fish that may have been dead for a day or two—their ingredients are far fresher compared to many other steamed seafood restaurants. Regular seafood aficionados can definitely tell the difference in value between this place and other establishments.

The price of the restaurant’s “three ways to enjoy fresh fish” ranges from NT$1,880 to NT$3,280 depending on the fish species. It can be served as sashimi, steamed fish, and the fish head bones can be used to make soup. If customers want to pair it with alcohol, the restaurant can also prepare grilled fish dishes. What’s rare is that no matter how it’s prepared, the restaurant aims to present the freshest ingredients using the most authentic cooking methods to every guest.

The restaurant imports Boston lobsters from Canada. Originally priced at NT$1,080, there’s a special summer promotion until the end of August for just NT$599. The reason for choosing Boston lobster is its sweet and delicious taste, firm yet tender texture, and stable quality. The owner said, "We want everyone to enjoy this affordable and incredibly fresh seafood—there’s really nowhere else in Taipei City where you can get this."

The restaurant has recently launched a new promotion: diners who come after 8:30 PM will receive a complimentary grilled fish (one per table), valued at about NT$330 to NT$380 depending on the fish species. The grilled fish is lightly seasoned to allow the natural flavor of the ingredient to shine through.

At the bottom of the steamed meal is a bowl of hot congee. The restaurant offers four types of congee bases: taro and spare ribs, pumpkin and spare ribs, clam, and another option (text garbled). Among them, the most popular is the taro and spare ribs congee. The owner explained, "Taro naturally has a bit of sweetness, and when paired with the savory spare ribs, the taste becomes even richer. This is a very popular choice for our customers. Because during the steaming process, the juices from the seafood accumulate and become flavorful, infusing the congee with a rich umami taste."
