A couple’s food truck dream — from Taipei to Penghu

Both of them previously worked in the food industry — one handles the front of house while the other manages the kitchen. They turned the entire grassy area into an open-air restaurant, serving three dishes every day, all made with local ingredients, aiming to let more people experience the unique flavors of Penghu.

In the afternoon, a white food truck parked on the grass near Penghu University of Science and Technology, catching the eye of many travelers. The “Addiction Food Truck,” created by young couple Roy and Racheal, carries their dreams as it travels from Taipei to Penghu.

I met Roy and Racheal on the grass at Penghu University of Science and Technology, where they were busy preparing ingredients. The white food truck stood on the vividly green lawn — just looking at it felt beautiful. While wiping sweat from their brows, they greeted me with bright, sunny smiles. “What would you like to eat today? All three dishes are made by us.”

Roy prepares the food, flashing a cheerful smile.
