The Wanggong Fishing Fires Festival kicks off on August 5  The fireworks show, which was suspended for a year, will return this year

The annual Wanggong Fishing Fires Festival is set to take place on August 5 and 6. The fireworks display, which was canceled last year (2016) in response to environmental concerns, will make a comeback this year (2017). In addition to the dazzling fireworks, there will also be an ocean music concert, a blessing street parade carnival, and a local food feast. Meanwhile, the Changhua County Government recently held a “Wanggong Fishing Port Lighting Ceremony,” where tens of thousands of LED lights illuminated the harbor, making it even more beautiful at night.

This year’s “Wanggong Fishing Fires Festival” features four main activities: an ocean music concert, a spectacular fireworks show, a blessing street parade carnival, and a local food feast. Among them, the blessing street parade carnival is a newly added event, involving participation from 14 local elementary and high schools, with performances including marching bands, cheerleading squads, and super string orchestra acts.

The ocean music concert this year has invited performers such as Lee Chien-na, Eddie Peng, MATZKA, Jia Jia, Christine Fan, Hsiang Hui-ling, Vivian Hsu, Wen-Chi Chang, Han-Long Wen, p!sco, A-TEAM, Taiwan Power Company, and FLUX. The hosts include Huang Deng-hui, along with Xiao You from “College Students Got Something to Say” and popular DJs Xiao Qian and Leo.

Due to the large crowds expected at the Wanggong Fishing Fires Festival, free shuttle buses will be available daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM at designated stops for visitors heading to the festival grounds. Shuttle routes: Fu Hai Temple – Quan Fang Zhi Zi Bing – Wanggong Large Parking Lot – Wanggong Food Street – Zhongxing Seafood Restaurant – Ah Mei Seafood Restaurant – Wanggong Fishing Port (round trip).
