Take your little ones out for some fun right away! 10 parent-child destinations in Tainan all in one go!

The National Day and Double Ten holidays are perfect for going out! The weather is much cooler than in summer vacation, and you only need to spend two days out of the three-day break. After coming back, you can rest for a day to help the kids get back into the groove! XD So I thought of organizing the attractions in Tainan that I have on hand into a great list of spots suitable for 【family travel】. I didn’t expect to end up with 10 spots to note down, most of which are concentrated in 【Anping, Tainan】. Below, let’s take a look at these places—you can choose spots that suit your own kids. Many of them are free or low-cost, great for killing time while also offering educational value. Perfect for taking kids out for fun!


【Anping District】

On the waterways, two boats pass each other at a time—you can even chat about what creatures you’ve spotted. It’s really fun. Once inside the waterway, scenes reminiscent of Taiwan’s version of the Amazon River unfold before your eyes! It never fails to amaze. There are many mangrove forests in Taiwan, but this combination of waterways and mangroves is truly unique to Taiwan!

That’s what makes it so appealing—winding through it, the temperature drops instantly. It’s as if the mangroves are opening their arms to welcome everyone and providing a cool shaded retreat. Sicao’s Green Tunnel has always been my top pick for a family-friendly destination! ^~^

Nearby Sicao landscape restaurant: 【Yeting】, located right on Sicao Boulevard, not far from Dazhong Temple. But because the roadside is overgrown with bushes, it’s easy to drive past without noticing! So if you’re leaving from Sicao Green Tunnel or Dazhong Temple and heading toward Anping, it’s about 1.5 km away—just a minute or two’s drive—and it’ll be on your right-hand side.

With an eco-style as enchanting as Sicao Green Tunnel, I found it perfect for bringing kids here. Everything you see and experience will make for a fantastic outdoor learning experience. They also serve great milkfish dishes, a great choice for lunch. And don’t miss the rare 【handmade tapioca pearls being made on-site】—they’re absolutely delicious!

This new attraction is right across from Yide Jincheng in Tainan. It was formerly Wujiao Shipboard and has recently been renovated into a great spot to relax and cool off. The building itself is designed with driftwood and oyster shells, so walking inside feels fun—it’s not just some stiff exhibition hall.

The first floor has a shopping area, but whether you buy something or not doesn’t matter, because there’s no entrance fee and no one will try to sell you anything. It’s a perfect place to stop for some air-conditioned relief, stroll around, and kill time while visiting Tainan in the summer.

Haishan Pala-Di is a place that looks like a traditional sanheyuan (courtyard house) turned into a quirky café. There are some seats to rest, and there are a few cute mascots that are great for photos. The best part? It’s also free!

Xiyu Outpost is a relatively new spot in Tainan. This place has no entrance fee and offers ample free parking! Even on holidays, you could park here and then walk to Anping Tree House, Deji Store, or even take Gu Fort Street back to Anping Fort or Anping Old Street. It’s perfect for a mid-journey rest, sipping a drink, and checking out the unique meanings behind your birthday salt art.

As soon as you walk in and see this bright yellow house, it completely lights up your day. Of all Tainan’s historic sites, my absolute favorite is: Anping Tree House. With the same NT$50 entrance fee, this place lets me take all the photos I want! The space is spacious, and the banyan roots are naturally captivating! The best part is you can walk up and down within the tree house area, immersing yourself in its world.

【Central District】

Entering Little West Gate, the main shopping area spans the 1st floor down to the B2 level. As you enter, the surrounding lights—in purple, red, yellow-orange—create an ambiance using industrial-style design. With a gray-toned background, it still perfectly highlights the vibrancy and energy of each shop. This is also the design style later adopted by stores like Eslite.

【Guantian District】

Tourist factories have been popping up nonstop in recent years! I think a big reason is not only industrial transformation, but also more and more factories realizing the value of showcasing their 【processes】 to the public. Plus, with the rise of weekend getaways, family travel has flourished, making tourist factories a fantastic real-life experience for parents to take kids outdoors.

Think about those hot summer vacation months. Besides cooling off with water activities, hiding out in an “air-conditioned room” that’s both fun and educational has its perks. Not only do kids learn, but adults can also use the chance to understand different industries. It’s a shared journey of discovery. Trust me, learning together with your kids is an essential part! Let them know mom and dad aren’t superheroes—but we’re great role models who never stop learning ^~^

【Beimen District】

Jingzijiao is a place I’ve long been drawn to, but I often couldn’t catch the evening light because I had to leave the next morning. But maybe stopping by earlier is a good idea too! So this time, we visited in the morning. From downtown Tainan, it’s about a 30–40-minute drive. The scenery along the way gradually reveals just how many hidden sides Tainan has.

Evening attractions rarely feel refreshing. Aside from night views and shopping, I never thought a cultural village could be designed so uniquely! The nighttime cultural village feels like a hidden gem—one even aliens might want to check out.

Its predecessor was the Renhe Sugar Refinery. Then, in 2000, people in Tainan established a drum art village here to preserve the art of drumming. The “ten” in Ten Drums interestingly represents the crisscrossing shape of drumsticks and also symbolizes uniting strength from all directions. In 2004, they set a Guinness World Record with a performance of a thousand drummers. This history gives the place not just the remnants of a former sugar factory but also a strong artistic vibe of drum music. Opening at night? What a creative idea! But creativity doesn’t always mean easy execution—after all, nighttime requires more attention to detail than the daytime.

Walking into the sugar refinery, the molasses tanks seem to hold countless secrets. It even made me feel like these cylindrical molasses tanks were like giant drums—solid, resonant, and powerful!

So above are ten spots I’ve noted down, shared with all the moms and dads out there. These places are great for a two-day, one-night trip. I’m also looking forward to the chance to head back to Beimen to shoot the newly built church and the upcoming 【Chi Mei Museum】! Tainan truly welcomes all kinds of travelers.
