Many people have asked me: “I’ve been to Bangkok many times, and every time I visit SIAM Paragon Market and JATUJA Weekend Market, it feels a bit repetitive. Is there anywhere new you can recommend?” Today, I’m taking you to Bangkok’s largest fruit and vegetable market — AorTorKor Market. Here, you’ll find unique Thai mango varieties (essential for making mango sticky rice), as well as incredibly delicious burst-green buns (even better than those in Kaohsiung).

AorTorKor Fruit and Vegetable Market (which I’ll translate as “AorTorKor Market” for now) is located right next to JATUJA Weekend Market (a 10-minute walk away at most). If you take a taxi, just tell the driver: [Bai Dalad OTOGO (掰 达拉的 欧兜抠)]. AorTorKor Market is truly a paradise for aunties and a fruit lover’s heaven for tourists. For instance, my friend from Macau always buys boxes of mangoes to take back. (Unfortunately, travelers from Taiwan aren’t allowed to bring foreign fruits into the country — but you can still buy fruits here on the first day of your trip and bring them back to your hotel to enjoy slowly.) (You’ll find that the fruits here at AorTorKor Market are not only exceptionally fresh and sweet, but also much cheaper than in supermarkets.)

In addition to fresh produce, the market also offers a wide range of takeaway side dishes, seasonings, bread, and doughnuts.

Don’t underestimate these buns, which are smaller than a palm. Their impact is surprisingly strong.
