The most beautiful time of the year is here—Taitung’s Belang Avenue welcomes the harvest with a sea of golden rice fields

From late October to early November, the rice ears planted in Taitung are about to turn golden. Coupled with the pleasant climate, this is the best time of the year to visit Belang Avenue in Chishang. Taitung County also hosts various events in November, with celebrities like Xiao S and singer A-Mei Chang performing and attending activities in Chishang.

Chen Bingyuan, a senior tour guide from the Taitung area, says that in this late autumn to early winter season, when the air is crisp and refreshing, whether you walk or bike to enjoy the scenery, you’ll feel very comfortable and at ease. It’s also a way to protect the local natural environment—killing many birds with one stone.

He also noted, with his extensive guiding experience, that the straight Belang Avenue is 2,200 meters long. Looking from the white-framed entrance, the fourth tree on the left is “the tree of Takeshi Kaneshiro.”

Taiwan Good Foundation is holding the “Chishang Autumn Harvest Rice Art Festival” on November 1 and 2, and has specially invited diva A-Mei Chang to attend. She will sing songs of the land with her unique, beautiful voice amidst the golden rice fields.

“Taiwan’s daughter-in-law” Xiao S (Xu Xidi) is also scheduled to participate in the 5K charity run of the “2014 Chishang Belang Avenue Marathon” on November 9.
