Find Peace Among the Silvergrass Along Ancient Trails – The Grass Mountain Ancient Trail Silvergrass Season Kicks Off in November

As the weather turns cooler and the silvergrass begins to sway, the annual Grass Mountain Ancient Trail Silvergrass Season is about to begin. Organized by the Northeast Coast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration, the “2014 Grass Mountain Ancient Trail Silvergrass Season” will lead visitors through the ancient trail starting November 1st, where they can enjoy the unique trio of sights only found here.

This year, the Northeast Coast Scenic Area Administration has transformed the Grass Mountain Ancient Trail into a place that feels like a journey through time. In addition to special activities such as “Tea Service at the Old Inn,” “Peaceful Porridge at Dali Tian Gong Temple,” and “DIY Rubbing Workshop,” the administration has also arranged educational programs on silvergrass ecology to help the public learn more about the life cycle of this iconic plant.

Moreover, to make the silvergrass viewing experience more convenient, the administration will operate shuttle buses on weekends (11/1, 11/2, 11/8, 11/9, 11/15, 11/16, 11/22, 11/23, 11/29, 11/30), with two routes available:

1. “Fulong Visitor Center – Yuwangkeng Water Park.” Operating hours: 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Full fare: NT$15, EasyCard accepted.

2. “Dali Visitor Center – Fulong Visitor Center.” Operating hours: 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Full fare: NT$49, EasyCard accepted.

For cyclists hoping to pedal through the sea of blossoms, the administration has partnered with local operators to provide bicycle rentals at the Dali Visitor Center during the season. Riders can bike from the visitor center to Fulong and return their bikes there, but advance reservations are required. The 2014 Grass Mountain Ancient Trail Silvergrass Season runs from November 1st to 30th.
