Osaka’s “Glico Running Man” Unveils 6th-Generation Signboard – Vibrant Rainbow Track Steals the Show

After more than two months of anticipation, the sixth-generation signboard of Osaka’s Dotonbori riverside landmark, the “Glico Running Man” (Glico), was finally unveiled with a lighting ceremony on the evening of the 23rd.

According to Japanese media reports, the sixth-generation Glico signboard was officially unveiled at 6:00 PM local time on the 23rd. The new generation signboard stands 20 meters tall and 10.38 meters wide. Beyond being designed with an “eco-friendly signboard” concept — using over 140,000 eco-conscious LEDs across the entire display — its seemingly simpler design compared to the fifth generation is actually more “dynamic” than its predecessors.

As the LEDs change, the running track beneath the sixth-generation Glico Running Man constantly shifts like an animation, giving the illusion of him sprinting along it. Meanwhile, the track also flickers in various colors, adding even more vibrancy to the entire signboard. Additionally, iconic Osaka backdrops such as Osaka Castle and Tsutenkaku Tower, which originally served as the backdrop for the Running Man, appear intermittently with the LED changes, boosting the visual appeal and excitement for visitors.
