Taiwan’s First Smoke-Free Night Market: Ningxia Night Market to Ban Smoking Starting November

Smokers, take note: Ningxia Night Market will soon be completely smoke-free. The Taipei City Department of Health recently announced that starting November 1, the night market will become a “smoke-free zone” every evening, allowing visitors to enjoy street food without exposure to secondhand smoke.
The health department stated that Ningxia Night Market will implement a time-specific smoking ban. From 6:00 p.m. to midnight daily, the area between Pingyang Street and Minsheng West Road within the night market will be entirely smoke-free. Those who violate the ban and smoke in the designated no-smoking zones will face fines ranging from NT$2,000 to NT$10,000.
