Want to take a short trip but don’t want to break the bank? Check out a recent article from the U.S. Huffington Post titled“How to Book Cheap Flights”, and keep these tips in mind — they might help you save quite a bit of money.

1. Book Early
Generally speaking, airlines offer early-bird tickets topassengers who book three months in advance. Overall, booking early definitely increases your chances of getting a discount, but remember not to book “too early” — booking more than three months ahead doesn’t guarantee a good price.

2. Consider Flying into Smaller or Remote Airports
Budget airlines often land at less busy airports, and major competitors are now moving in that direction too, pricing their tickets similarly to low-cost carriers.

Start by listing the routes you frequently fly, then follow the airlines on Twitter and Facebook to stay updated — you might just snag a great deal.

Major travel agencies have apps that help you check flight schedules. Popular ones include Kayak Pro, Orbitz, Priceline, and Skyscanner.

Ever had this happen: you find a cheap flight, come back later to book it, and the price has gone up!? Actually, some websites are designed to “automatically adjust and increase prices based on browsing activity,” such as Travelocity. 6. Just Google It
More and more savvy travelers are usingGoogle Flightsto find cheap flights. It can pinpoint ticket prices accurately, but the downside is that you can’t book directly on Google — you’ll need to go to an external website to complete your purchase.
