Last year's "Shilin Official Residence Chrysanthemum Exhibition," which won widespread acclaim for its yellow chrysanthemum duck and a large spray chrysanthemum with a record number of blooms, returns in full swing this year！Under the 2014 theme homophone "Love You for a Lifetime," the event presents six major chrysanthemum display zones at the Shilin Official Residence, open free to the public from now until the 30th.

The Taipei City Department of Parks and Street Lights stated that this year, in line with the “Love You for a Lifetime” fever of 2014, the exhibit specially conveys affection through chrysanthemums, using large spray chrysanthemums, cascade chrysanthemums, grafted chrysanthemums, and other shaped flowers, as well as a variety of large and small chrysanthemums, chrysanthemum-family flowering plants, and diverse materials to showcase the theme “When Chrysanthemums Shine with Love.”

The Shilin Official Residence has also created six outdoor exhibition areas and three indoor exhibition halls this year, interpreting different stages and levels of love. For example, the “Yes, I do” area features a Western-style garden with geometrically symmetrical floral carpet gardens, allowing couples ready to step into the next stage of life to walk together through a chrysanthemum archway toward a platform at the end made of dusty miller and trailing vinca, forming the words “Yes, I do!” with an ultra-romantic vibe. The exhibit also uses chrysanthemums to craft wedding cakes, diamond rings, and even creates red-thread high heels using special gardening techniques—everywhere radiating deep “love.” The organizers hope that through various themed exhibition areas, those of us who are usually shy about expressing love can use “chrysanthemums” to convey feelings of affection or respect.
