Taoyuan Airport’s Terminal 2 Arrival Hall Gets a New Look; Set to Open Before Lunar New Year

Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2, which was completed in 2000, is currently undergoing a series of renovation projects. The airport authority plans to improve areas such as the arrival hall, the north and south corridors of the arrival hall, the immigration corridor within the restricted area, and the covered walkways around Terminal 2 by 2016, aiming to create a warm and Taiwan-inspired environment for travelers and those picking up passengers.

The design of the arrival hall of Terminal 2 adopts the same warm wooden tones as the departure hall of Terminal 1 and makes use of the previously underutilized spaces around the pillars. The transformation of the counter area is expected to be completed before the Lunar New Year.

Currently, the center of the arrival hall houses counters for the Tourism Bureau and the International Medical Services Center. In the future, the circular spaces around the four main pillars in the arrival hall will be fully utilized to accommodate service desks for the airport authority, the Tourism Bureau, the International Medical Services Center, hotels, car rentals, and more. The standard counter height will be 110 cm, and all four main counters will feature a shared accessible counter surface at 75 cm in height to facilitate communication between wheelchair users and service staff.

Additionally, for the outdoor pedestrian walkways and covered walkways of Terminal 2, a white main structure paired with light gray cement and gray granite flooring will be used, aiming to present a modern and up-to-date feel.
