Two teddy bears go missing just 8 days after launch – Tainan Teddy Bear Bus issues ‘missing bear alert’

The Tainan City Tourism Bureau has now issued a ‘missing bear alert’! The Tainan “Teddy Bear Themed Bus,” which was only launched on the 13th of this month, originally featured one large and two small classic teddy bears placed inside the vehicle. It has now been reported that just 8 days after hitting the road, the two small teddy bears have mysteriously disappeared. The tourism bureau is urging anyone who may have unintentionally taken them home to please return them promptly, so more visitors can also enjoy the company of the teddy bears.

To encourage tourists to take the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle for a light trip around Tainan, starting from the 13th, the Tainan City Tourism Bureau launched two “Bears Love Tainan” tourist-themed buses on the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle routes 88 (Anping Line) and 99 (Taijiang Line). In addition to being dressed up according to their route themes—featuring major historic sites in Tainan and the green tunnel of Sicao—the most eye-catching feature inside the buses is the one large and two small classic teddy bears provided by Classic Teddy. Since their launch, they have received widespread praise, and the tourism bureau and bus companies have been inundated with inquiries from numerous tourists wanting to know the teddy bear bus schedules in order to catch a ride.

Perhaps because the teddy bears were too adorable, early on the morning of the 21st, the driver of the first bus found that the two small teddy bears placed on the 88 Anping Line bus had “vanished into thin air,” leaving only the large teddy bear sitting alone in its spot. The Tainan Tourism Bureau stated that a missing bear alert has now been issued. Aside from asking the public for help in locating them, they are also appealing to anyone who may have accidentally taken the two classic teddy bears home to return them as soon as possible to either the tourism bureau or the Fucheng Bus Company. They are also considering reporting the case to the police.
