A 10-meter-high grated floor    and a hillside viewpoint offering a 270-degree view of Sun Moon Lake

Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, Sun Moon Lake has long been a highly praised tourist destination. The Hillside Viewpoint, which allows visitors to take in the panoramic views of Shuishe Dam and Hanbi Peninsula in one glance,Hillside Viewpoint, also officially opened on November 9 and has become a must-visit new attraction for travelers coming to Sun Moon Lake.

The newly established Hillside Viewpoint is a cantilever-style platform that gives off a sensation similar to walking on a suspension bridge. The platform extends from the shore walkway above the water surface, standing 10 meters high, and features a grated floor design that creates a floating sensation above the lake. From the viewpoint, visitors can enjoy a 270-degree view of Shuishe Dam, Hanbi Peninsula, Lalu Island, as well as Xuanguang Temple and Xuanzang Temple of the Qinglong Mountain Range. They can also admire the leisurely sight of cruise boats gliding across the lake.

Hong Juzhu, a volunteer guide at the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration, noted that due to the high humidity around Sun Moon Lake, compared to transparent glass flooring, the grated floor offers a similar skywalk experience while providing better slip resistance and being less affected by weather conditions. Visitors interested in experiencing the viewpoint can reach it by cycling or walking along the path behind the Hillside Visitor Center for about 10 minutes. Those taking a lake cruise can also spot the viewpoint as they approach the Hillside area.
