The best part of staying on a cruise ship: pull back the curtains and enjoy a "shape-shifting" private sea view

While the wide variety of entertainment facilities on a cruise ship is certainly exciting, if you’re looking for a completely undisturbed private space, cozying up in your cabin is also a great way to spend your leisurely time at sea. And if your room comes with a balcony, all you need to do is draw back the curtains to take in your own exclusive, breathtaking ocean view.
The world’s third-largest cruise line—Princess Cruises—this year launched its newestMajestic Princess, one of its largest and most premium ships in terms of tonnage, passenger capacity, and number of cabins. It features 1,780 cabins spread across Decks 8 to 16, accommodating up to 3,560 guests. Cabins come in five types: interior, oceanview, deluxe oceanview, mini-suite, and suite. Among these, only guests staying in interior cabins need to head to outdoor deck areas or restaurants to enjoy the blue charm of the sea.

The deluxe oceanview cabins are approximately 6.5 to 8 pyeong (about 21.5–26.3 square meters), with slight variations depending on their location on the ship. The rooms are decorated mainly in off-white and earthy tones, complemented by soft yellow lighting, creating a warm, homely feel for guests.
Considering passengers’ needs for storing large luggage, Princess Cruises has dedicated most of the space around the cabin door to an open wardrobe, offering ample room to hang clothes, while large suitcases can also be placed on the floor with ease. Opposite the wardrobe is a shower and washbasin area of about 1 pyeong.
Guests should note that, in line with Princess Cruises’ sustainability efforts, only shampoo, body wash, soap, and towels are provided in the cabins. Personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and facial cleansers must be brought by guests themselves.

The moderately firm white beds in the cabins come with two same-height pillows per guest, plus an additional small pillow. Each side of the bed is equipped with a bedside lamp and a low cabinet with two-tier drawers. The three commonly used power outlets in the room are concentrated near the vanity, and guests with multiple devices are advised to bring an extension cord. The small sofa is only available in deluxe oceanview cabins and above.
Cruise entertainment programs change daily, and to help guests plan their next day’s itinerary, Princess Cruises provides a daily"Princess Patter", which includes the dining hours for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at each restaurant, details on where and when spectacular shows will take place on the ship, and even the expected times of sunrise and sunset each day—perfect for guests wanting to catch the dawn over the ocean or watch the sunset sink into the sea.

The "room card" is the most unique souvenir for guests sailing with Princess Cruises. Each guest’s room card is unique, serving not only as a cabin key but also as identification for boarding and disembarking, as well as for onboard purchases. Upon check-in at the port, staff will ask guests to present a credit card for authorization, and all onboard charges will be deducted via the linked credit card. Guests may also opt to preload a certain amount onto the card for direct deductions when shopping or using paid services. Upon first boarding, staff will scan the barcode on the back of the card and take a photo of the guest to verify identity during future entries and exits.
Room card colors vary by guest. Zhang Yiting, manager of Princess Cruises International Public Relations Department, explained that as guests sail more often, their cards “change color.” First-time cruisers receive a blue card, followed by gold, red, and black. The color of a guest’s card can indicate their level of cruise experience.
