Japan Airlines' new 787 and 777 aircraft debut; first flights from Taoyuan and Songshan on December 1

To accommodate the growing number of travelers between Taiwan and Japan and to provide a more comfortable flying experience, Japan Airlines will introduce Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft on existing direct routes between the two countries starting December 1.

Wang Fu-minPassenger Services Manager, Japan Airlines Taiwan Branchsaid that currently, Japan Airlines operates two daily Songshan–Haneda flights using 767 aircraft. Starting December 1, the 15:30 flight will be switched to a 777-200, adding 18 more seats. Additionally, on the two daily Taoyuan–Kansai flights currently operated by 737 and 767 aircraft, the 12:35 flight on December 1 will be operated by the new 787. This aircraft adjustment will increase weekly passenger capacity for Tokyo round trips by 252 seats.

Wang Fu-min also stated that to celebrate the inaugural flights of Japan Airlines’ new aircraft at Songshan and Taoyuan airports, a water salute ceremony will be held on the runways of both airports on December 1. A Q&A quiz with prizes will take place at the observation decks, along with special send-off and welcome ceremonies to allow the public to share in the joy.
