Dong’ao Pink Bird Forest in Yilan, known for its endless seascape, has been a popular IG check-in spot recently. However, due to safety concerns, the ban on recreational activities within the fishing port area, and the proliferation of litter caused by crowds, the authorities have temporarily closed Pink Bird Forest Beach. In fact, while IG has made many locations go viral, some aren’t even official attractions and can even be dangerous—leading to closures based on safety considerations.

Ruifang Abandoned Flue Gas Tunnels
The Ruifang Abandoned Flue Gas Tunnels gained popularity for their ruins-like atmosphere, sparking a wave of pilgrimages as many visited to take photos and experience the tranquility of the mountains. However, it was previously reported that due to heavy metals, the air pollution there is severe and prolonged inhalation could harm health. Coupled with the site’s aging and structural risks, the New Taipei City Government decided to fence off the tunnel entrances and advise the public not to visit.

Eagle Stone Peak
The Eagle Stone Peak scenic spot in Toucheng, Yilan, became one of the hottest spots in 2016 thanks to its breathtaking panoramic views and stunning seascapes, which were shared widely on social media. However, it’s now reported that the location has potential geological fracture risks, leading the Northeast Coast and Yilan National Scenic Area Administration to install fences to block access.

Weishui Hill
Known as the “Eagle Stone Peak 2.0,” Weishui Hill in Yilan went viral recently for its suspended beauty. It offers views over the Lanyang Plain and a distant glimpse of Guishan Island, attracting many travelers who climbed over barriers for photos—despite the extreme danger. In response, the Yilan County Government installed “No Climbing” warning signs to prevent accidents.
