Osaka Udon Museum Opens: 8 Types of Udon for Just "One Coin"

The udon-themed "Udon Museum" finally opened in Osaka's Amerikamura district on the 5th. Set in a space decorated in the style of an Edo-period festival, it currently houses eight of Japan’s most famous udon shops from around the country, such as Ise Udon. For just 500 yen (about NT$130), visitors can enjoy some of Japan’s most authentic and delicious flavors.

The Osaka Udon Museum is Japan’s second specialty museum dedicated to this dish. Covering nearly 135 tsubo (about 446 square meters), the interior is designed in a retro Edo-period festival style to create a spacious food street, with 160 seats available. Current tenants include Sanuki Curry Udon, Ise Udon, Kyoto Udon, Kasuwa, Kiryuu Udon, and Naruto Udon.

According to Japanese media reports, each shop offers only small portions, priced around 500 yen per bowl, allowing customers to freely choose and compare which type of udon is their favorite. With business hours extending until 10 PM, it is expected to become another popular new spot for travelers in Osaka to enjoy Japanese cuisine.
